Actor Larry Howell dies at age 52.
Larry A. Howell was born October 3, 1957, in Tribune, KS, the son of Roy Everett and Carol Jean (Borden) Howell. He was a longtime resident of Liberal moving to Liberal in 1979. He graduated from Greeley County High School in 1975, and graduated from Seward County Community College in 1977, and Ft. Hays State University with a degree in Marketing in 1979. Larry was employed as Marketing /Advertising Director for Epic Touch of Elkhart, Guymon and Liberal. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Liberal Chamber of Commerce serving as past president in 2009, Liberal Chamber of Commerce Foundation Board, Chamber Ambassador and past member and past president of Kiwanis Club. He was also active on the Liberal High School Site Council, Good Samaritan Advisory Board, Mid American Air Museum Foundation Board and was a Precinct Committeeman for Seward County Republicans.
He first made his movie acting apearance in Joel Trujillo's Star Wars fan films back in 2004-2005 as Jedi Master Nielacus. In 2008 Larry would make a comedic performance as teenage girl's father who watches his daughter get eaten by a lake monster but would rather save himself and his son then his daughter in the 2009 movie "Serpent Lake" also directed by Joel Trujillo. Larry was getting ready to film a major role in Joel Trujillo's upcoming movie "The Sparrowman." Joel Trujillo is now re-casting the part for re-shooting.
On March 18, 1989, he married Jamie Kilgore Brown at Tribune, KS. She survives. Other survivors include: his father, Everett Howell, Tribune, KS; two sons, Andrew "Andy" Howell, Liberal, and Tyler Brown and wife Angie, Parkville, Mo.; two daughter, Danielle Howell, Liberal, and Teryn Draper and husband Brandon, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Danny Howell and wife Brittany, Holcomb; a sister, Debbie Wise, Fowler; and two grandchildren, Liv Ella Brown, and Eva Olive Draper. He died Friday December 18, 2009, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Jean Howell, and a sister, Everly Howell Oakes.
